🌿 Mangrove Ecosystem Guide
Mangroves use terrestrial-style plots/transects for trees and AOIs/transects for fauna. Start by creating a mangrove site, then add plans and surveys for Tree Growth and Fauna.
What you can do
- Tree Growth — DBH/height/health for mangrove plots or transects.
- Fauna/Biodiversity — genus/species counts along transects or AOIs (intertidal/nearshore fauna).
- Reporting — roll up projects/sites into PDFs.
Fast path to get started
- Create a Site as Mangrove with a boundary polygon (https://marimap.com/app/sites/new (opens in a new tab)).
- Build a Plan for Tree Growth or Fauna (https://marimap.com/app/surveys/plans/new (opens in a new tab)).
- Tree Growth: points/lines/polygons for plots/transects.
- Fauna: lines or AOIs.
- Run a Survey from the plan (https://marimap.com/app/surveys/new (opens in a new tab)).
- Tree Growth: add species, DBH, height, health, count.
- Fauna: add genus/species, counts, optional size bins.
- Report if needed (https://marimap.com/app/reports/new (opens in a new tab)).
Suggested workflow
- Keep plots/transects stable; use the ID generator for site and survey IDs.
- In plans, set taxon filters (e.g., expected species) to keep data tidy.
- For fauna, agree on size bins and observation rules before fieldwork.
- Use team invites so roles (admin/editor/viewer) are clear.
